RETREAT FACILITATORS
After serving for decades in academic and pastoral ministry, Elaine co-founded and serves as the Abbess and lead farmer of Spring Forest, a new monastic, mission community in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. A veteran innovator in theological education and in fostering new faith communities, Elaine works with clergy and non-profit leaders, theology students, and others who are seeking to develop a more contextual, holistic, community-based, trauma-informed approach to ministry.
Elaine’s journey has included serving as Dean of Duke Divinity School and was on the faculty of Perkins School of Theology for many years, teaching in the areas of evangelism, mission, and spiritual formation.
She is the author of 13 books, including Trauma Informed Evangelism (co-authored with Charles Kiser), The Mystic Way of Evangelism, God Unbound, and Healing the Wounds of Sexual Abuse: Reading the Bible with Survivors. When not wrangling goats, planting turnips, or leading an immersion course in new monasticism, Elaine enjoys camping and kayaking.

Angie Wolle
Angie has felt the tension of being faithful to her calling while concurrently seeking a sustainable way to live wholeheartedly in the midst of the unique needs and demands of a faith-based organization. That is why, throughout her journey she has created healing and transformational settings for people to explore more deeply their spiritual life and worked to align organizational cultures to reflect their values and mission.
Angie feels blessed to have a rich and varied vocational journey over decades, that has taken her from working in Fortune 500 companies and large faith-based healthcare systems as an executive in organizational design and leadership development, to start-ups of multiple 501-c’s and serving as an ordained United Methodist pastor.
She is currently serving as a coach and consultant, working with spiritual leaders serving in faith-based organizations. She is a trained practitioner in energy healing and spiritual direction and has an M.A. in Organizational Development. When Angie is not working, she is kayaking, hiking, biking with her spouse, Reverend Cathlynn Law (also a UMC Elder), and enjoying time with her yellow lab, Ivy, who loves to compete in dock diving. She currently lives in Tacoma, WA.
Rebecca lives in SE Michigan with her husband and four children. She holds a BA from BGSU and an MDiv from Ashland Theological Seminary.
Having served in various leadership roles and settings for the last 25 years, she became familiar with feelings of loneliness and wondering if anyone else could understand the impact that following her call had upon her personal wellness and family relationships. Wanting to help others with similar struggles, she was inspired to become a Certified Integral Professional Coach and a Certified InnerLife Skills Enneagram Coach.
Currently, Rebecca is pursuing her Masters in Clinical Counseling as well. A holistic approach to overall wellness and the Contemplative Christian lineage inform Rebecca’s life and work.
